BEST IN SHOW
It’s wedding season.
Whether you’re jetting off to the Italian coast for an intimate celebration or showing up at a black-tie bash with everyone and their cousin, we’ve got your look covered.
Formal Affair
Some traditions never die.
There’s a reason the classic black tuxedo has been a staple in every man’s formal wardrobe since 1865: it just looks so damn good.
At a black-tie wedding, you'll likely find yourself in a sea of tuxedos that all look more or less the same. What will set you apart is the fit - that MCNY-second-skin fit. A double-breasted silhouette is another modern choice, but keep the rest of your ensemble clean and traditional. I recommend a tuxedo shirt with a pique front instead of pleats, timeless patent leather shoes…and a Patek on the wrist (ha!).
Coastal Celebration
Destination weddings are great for a number of reasons I shouldn’t mention here, but also because they’re an opportunity to step out of your wardrobe comfort zone.
Go for a linen-blend textile - you’ll have the comfort and coolness of the linen, but the structure of something like silk or cotton to avoid wrinkles - from all of the activities you’ll be doing. Shades of blue, green, or tan are best.
Villa Hideaway
When you’re toasting the couple on an estate older than New York City, make sure you dress the part.
Instead of your classic Wall Street grey work suit, try a pearly, heather grey - it’s more lustrous (not shiny, don’t worry) and really sleek. Play it up with a fun tie and cool frames.
Meet you at the champagne tower (again).
Countryside Nuptials
Rolling hills, fields for miles, and enough wine for a small army: enter the countryside wedding.
A deep espresso brown suit has a nice idyllic charm to it. It’s not too bold and flashy, but it’s richer than a navy or grey. Going for a more casual style with patch pockets and notch lapels ensures its wearability, and I promise you’ll be reaching for it again.
